Geoff Robinson uses Photoshop & Other Programmes

On Tuesday 4th April, for the first half of the digital evening, Geoff Robinson took as his subject matter the framing of Digital Images. He demonstrated a variety of methods for producing his photo-frames, and illustrated bevelled effects and ragged borders amongst others. He used the colour picker to choose appropriate colours for the frame from the picture being framed and demonstrated how the gradient filter, and pattern filters would enhance the result. He used several adjustment layers to produce a “find the edges” effect which gave him increased control of the resulting “Pen and ink” image. Selecting the central part for removal (with a large feather value) gave a pleasing coloured central image which faded out to a pen & ink sketch at the edges.

After the interval Geoff introduced a new program “PhotoArtMaster” which gave controllable painterly effects to the image. He illustrated its use on several images and suggested that its Watercolour effect was a suitable alternative to the blurring of backgrounds when one wished to emphasise the foreground of a picture.
