Trevor Harrison the end of an Era It was with great sadness that members heard that Trevor Harrison passed away last Saturday (11th February 2006). |

| Trevor had a long and distinguished association with North Cheshire Photographic Society, dating back to the early ‘60s. He had regularly served on the committee in just about every post over that period, including President, and was always willing, with Hilda constantly in support, to take on the more mundane tasks involved in the smooth running of the club. He was more than instrumental in seeking out our current accommodation at the Civic Hall, Poynton, when the enforced move and name change from Hazel Grove P.S. took place. In fact much of Trevor’s spare time was dedicated to steering the club through such periods of upheaval. In more recent times, in recognition of his services, he was made Hon. Life Member of North Cheshire P.S. Unfortunately the setbacks with his health understandably dampened his enthusiasm for photography and accounted for him missing out on recent meetings and events but, of course, he has remained in our thoughts throughout. As well as being a great servant of the Society, Trevor will be remembered for his many successful images. He was undoubtedly a very good photographer in his own right. Who will forget his picture of the little lad, “Tommy” perfectly framed within a colourful traction engine wheel, but covered in sticky black oil and wearing a wonderfully innocent expression. It featured on the front cover of The Photography Yearbook” that year - just one of Trevor’s claims to fame. He was proud to have earned his ARPS at about the same time and of course, his name has been regularly engraved on our Society’s trophies as a result of his successful submissions to Annual Exhibitions, before and since. We certainly missed his winning contributions to our inter-club competitions as he became less active. We will also miss the encouragement and guidance so willingly imparted to our members on a regular basis. Of course, Trevor also has many friends in other photographic clubs throughout the region who will remember him as a knowledgeable lecturer and a friendly and helpful Judge. Our thoughts go to Trevor’s family and particularly to Hilda who has been constantly at his side at just about every meeting and club outing over all those years. Tony Redford |
