Brian Lomas from North Manchester Camera Club was our jovial judge for this first competition of the session. He complained at the outset that with such a high standard of prints he was going to have a hard job. Nevertheless he lightened the mood by recounting a little incident earlier in the week when he was looking for the local PC World to investigate the latest Computer prices. Having driven around for a while without success he stopped to ask a policeman: Did he know where PC World was? After some thought the Policeman shook his head. I don’t think he’s in this Force!
Brian chose to judge the Prints and Slides Cold, on the night. His marks varied between 13 and 17, whilst he kept about a dozen back. He then felt obliged to go to 17.5 to do justice to some he couldn’t quite decide to keep back.

Waiting for the screen and projector to be installed our judge was reminded of the man who went to the dentist, without an appointment, The dentist asked him if he had been having trouble with his teeth. Oh no said the man. Then why are you here? Queried the dentist. Its because I think I’m a moth replied the man. You shouldn’t be here replied the dentist, you need a psychiatrist, Why did you come to me. Oh, said the man I was just passing and I was attracted by the light in the Window! With that out of his system Brian proceeded to mark the Slides.
