President Richard Scaife chaired the meeting with 31 members present. Treasurer Geoff Robinson proposed that the subscriptions should remain unchanged. He thanked Dave Clack for auditing the accounts. In his final report as Exhibition Secretary Gordon Robson thanked all who had helped make recent Exhibitions successful. The competitions continued to flourish. This year Wigan 10 had snatched a victory from Leek Camera Club in the Inter-club slide competition. L&CPU President Keith Suddaby, in opening the Exhibition, had commented that it was one of the premier events in the L&CPU calendar. Gordon had organised the judges for next years Exhibition, but noted that a suitable Friday night Speaker had still to be determined. Social Secretary Colin Pickles reported a successful trip to Valencia. He thanked Tony Redford for organising the forthcoming Lake District event (in November 2005). He noted that there had been mixed feelings concerning the Venue and Price of this session’s Christmas Dinner and that it was proposed not to hold one in the coming session. Focus Editor, Bill Chadband noted that during the session 86 Focus pages had been printed including a resume of committee meetings, speakers, judges and various club outings Syllabus secretary, Richard Scaife, reported that the new syllabus was ready and noted that the first Tuesday in the month would be a Digital Forum held at the Community Centre. Roger Dye had taken over as Competition secretary at short notice from John Coles (after the second quarterly competition) and had continued with John’s processing system. The Society had achieved a respectable performance in external competitions and the results have quickly appeared on the Club’s web site. Two members had submitted individual entries to the L&CPU annual competition this session. Publicity Secretary Frank Hutchinson stated that the web site created and maintained by Peter Redford was still our most efficient publicity tool. He listed the press releases sent each month to various sources. Before his President’s remarks Richard Scaife presented some awards: The Nature Cup to George Beaumont; Clubman of the Year and Slideworker of the Year to Tony Redford, and Printworker of the Year to Geoff Robinson. Richard then thanked everyone in the Club for their contributions and general enthusiasm. He thanked Gordon, particularly, for his work over the last 7 years and was pleased that Bill was taking over as co-ordinator for the Exhibition. He also thanked Roger who took over at short notice from John Coles. Along with our Digital Equipment, we have purchased a ‘Spyder’ for club use. This will allow members to calibrate their monitors for photographic use. Dave Clack has producing some notes on using this equipment. The digital forums had been very successful attracting 70 people at the beginning with a core of half this number attending all meetings. Richard paid tribute to Joyce Streets for her work as Membership Secretary and to John Coles whose work had taken him to London. The following club officers were then elected. John Ade would send Bill a list of equipment in the near future. Richard stated we are not the official photographers for Poynton Show this year, but we will still have the stand and banner in the main ring. The meeting closed at 10.00pm after which the Rosalind Bramley Trophy was judged by the members and won by Jill Hargreaves. |
