Committee meeting Wed 20th April

At this meeting the AGM, re-arranged to 17th May due to the Valencia trip, was high on the Agenda. It was agreed that the print winning the Rosalind Bramley trophy competition should be hung in the following Annual Exhibition.

It is the committee’s responsibility to ensure nominations for officer posts at the AGM. It made the following proposals:

President - Richard Scaife

Past President - Joyce Streets

Treasurer - Geoff Robinson

Secretary - Joyce Robson

Syllabus Sec - Tony Redford

Competition Sec - Roger Dye

Social Sec - Colin Pickles

Membership Sec - Anthony Rosevere

Ann Exhibition - Bill Chadband

Publicity - Frank Hutchinson

Equipment Officer - John Ade

Focus Editor - Bill Chadband

For the Selection Sub-committee, chaired by the competition Sec, the following were proposed: Gordon Robson; Brian Turnbull; Tony Redford.

Noting the need to introduce new members to the committee, whilst not losing the valuable knowledge of older members, a mix of names was proposed for committee members without portfolio. Gordon and Brian agreed to continue, and the President would consult with other proposed names as to weather they were willing to join the committee.

Bill Chadband had agreed to be Annual Exhibition Co-ordinator chairing a new Annual Exhibition sub-committee. Following consultation Gordon had drawn up a schematic of jobs together with the names of people responsible for them.. This had effectively defined the new sub-committee whose names were:

Bill Chadband; Roger Dye, Gordon Robson, Frank Hutchinson, Tony and Peter Redford, Alan Wild, Joyce Streets, Barry Pearson, Sandra Brown. A 1st meeting of the new sub-committee would establish the divisions of responsibility.

Gordon reported that he had secured the services of three judges for the next Annual Exhibition (2006). Tillman Kleinhans would judge the Exhibition entries.

Barry Colhoughon would judge the inter-club digital competition, whilst Peter Gennard would judge the inter-club slide competition. Tilman had agreed to talk to the club on Jan 31st about the Prints, and on February 14th about the slides. The Annual Exhibition next year was booked for 8th to 10th February 2006. A long discussion on an appropriate Friday evening event/ talk reached no definite conclusion, but the President would approach a proposed presenter for more information.

Tony Redford noted that the report to the Lottery grants committee, prepared by Geoff Robinson and himself, had been sent. As yet he had received no acknowledgement. Frank Hutchinson noted that NCPS had been invited to man a table in Poynton Library on a Society Activities Day. Tony Redford and Bill Chadband agreed to get together to consider the content of the last Digital evening of the session on May 3rd. Brian Turnbull’s proposal that the new digital series, next session might be entitled The Art of Digital Photography received wide support. His other suggestion that we might consider renaming the Society to reflect the increasing importance of Digital photography was not taken up.

Joyce and Gordon were thanked for their hospitality in hosting the committee meeting.
