Inter-Club Digital Print Competition

For the Alan Adshead Trophy

The Inter-Club print competition attracts a great collection of mounted prints from some 20 or so leading photographic clubs from throughout the North. They are laid out around the hall, for close scrutiny by the audience, before being projected on our large screen. The prints are simultaneously placed individually, for inspection by the judge, on an illuminated print stand at the front of the hall. A “real time” display of cumulative scores keeps the capacity audience, mainly from participating clubs, fully informed of their progress. A full print-out of the result is available for each club at the end of the evening. The winning society collects the Alan Adshead Trophy and an award is presented to the author of the best individual print.

The task of judging and scoring the prints this year has been readily accepted by Keith Brown FRPS MPAGB EFIAP.

Keith Brown

Keith is a long-standing member of the Sheffield Photographic Society and has impressed greatly with his own quality images, his famous audio-visual presentations and with his judging of major photographic competitions at local, national and international levels.

As his qualifications confirm, he is very well placed to do full justice to the large selection of top class prints, all new to him, with which he will be confronted on this occasion. He looks forward to the challenge.

Inter-Club Digital Image Knockout Competition

For the North Cheshire Challenge Trophy

The Inter-Club competition for Digitally Projected Images is expected to attract all the top clubs from a wide area extending way beyond the Lancashire and Cheshire region.  We shall be seeing the very best of the current crop of images, projected on the latest High Resolution equipment for maximum effect. A state of the art scoring system will display running totals and ensure a prompt resolution of the winners of the North Cheshire Challenge Trophy. We hope to have a capacity audience of some 200, comprising of members of all participating clubs, who will surely have a feast of images to admire and inspire.

For the onerous task of judging and scoring the images we are delighted to have secured the services of Mike McNamee FRPS FBPPA.

Mike McNamee

As a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, and the British Professional Photographers Association, he has won a number of National and International awards and his photography is used all over the World in encyclopedias, text books, CD covers, scientific journals, calendars, magazines and newspapers.

Mike teaches photography and digital imaging at Priestley College, Warrington, was the Editor of Digital Photographer and Creative Imaging, and is currently Editor of Professional ImageMaker, the magazine of The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

He assures us he is looking forward to returning to the Civic Hall, Poynton, to act as judge for this major event.

Music at an Exhibition

As well as having the opportunity to peruse at leisure well over 100 all-new Exhibition prints displayed on illuminated panels surrounding the Main Hall, and to view, on high-resolution monitors, the members’ projected images as selected for the Exhibition, our expected capacity audience will enjoy an evening of fine musical entertainment.

This "Music at an Exhibition" night returns by popular demand and we have another great programme lined up for our 2009 show.

Prior to the interval, and commencing at 8.00pm prompt, we shall be enthralled by 1000 soaring voices (well perhaps a little fewer!) from the highly acclaimed Romiley Operatic Society singing a selection of favourites from the shows.

After the refreshment break the Hawk Green Brass Band take to the stage with a selection from their well-rehearsed repertoire. This is their second visit to this event and we know we are in for another rare treat of stirring music.

If you believe that Friday the 13th has an unlucky ring to it, come along to Poynton Civic Hall and dispel the theory for once and for all!
