Digital Meeting - Tuesday 1 April

Our third series of monthly Digital meetings at the Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club ended with an open meeting to allow attendees to show some of their digital work. The suggestion was that folk would display up to four images; commenting upon why they took the picture and what digital manipulation might have been involved. President Tony Redford had agreed to make initial comments on the images presented, before inviting the audience to join in. Consideration of the two dozen prints took us up to the tea break, after which the Digital Projector was set up and three sets of digital images were presented.

To encourage participation Tony had waved a prize envelope in the air, to be given to the author of what the audience considered to be the best image. From each entrant’s images the audience, by show of hands, determined which one would enter the second round. In this second round, by show of hands Karen Heathcote’s “Tree Landscape” was declared the winner.

It was not clear if the envelope contained anything of value (and Karen wasn’t letting on). The real prize was to be doing so well in this light-hearted event. Tony commented that the standard was very high contradicting the assumption that this was a digital beginners evening; perhaps supporting Barry’s suggestion that we could safely eliminate the Club’s “Beginners” section in our competitions.
