Park Lane Poynton

Members should be aware that Park Lane in Poynton is being remodelled as a ‘‘Shared Space”, shared that is between those on foot and those on wheels. This work started on 9th August and is scheduled to last for 18 weeks, though it is a matter of some concern to locals that the relevant traffic order has been issued for a period of 18 months!

During this work Park Lane between the traffic lights at Fountain Place and Poynton Green will be one way in the easterly direction (from the lights towards the Civic Hall). Bulkeley Road is also closed, this is the short section of road straight across from the Civic Hall entrance to the Catholic Church. Traffic leaving the Civic Hall Car Park must turn left up Park Lane and can then turn right at the first junction (the end of the one way system) into Clumber Road and hence via Dickens Lane to London Road. The Dickens Lane-London Road South junction has temporary traffic lights.

According to the information issued, the Civic Hall Car Park will remain available throughout this work but has been rearranged to segregate short and long stay parking, there is also now a speed hump on the entrance road. Parking will also remain free of charge for the first eight weeks from the opening of the new Waitrose Store when the situation will be reviewed.
