Motion to authorise and instruct the Committee to change and publish the Clubworker Competition rules for the 2009/2010 season
As follows:
- The current "Slide worker of the year" award would be replaced by a “Projected image worker of the year” award. (So “Slide worker of the year” would cease to exist). This would be available only to the Advanced class. This would be in addition to the current “Intermediate worker”, “Print worker”, and “Clubworker” awards.
- Only the best 3 scores of any member's set of projected images (slides plus digital images) in each competition would accumulate towards Projected image worker of the year. (Just as they accumulate towards Clubworker of the year, both now and in the revised rules).
- As now, the maximum of all projected images (slides plus digital images) from any member would be 5.
Justification:
- We now know that projected digital images are popular in Clubworker competitions, and that the typical standard is high.
- We also expect that a few members will submit only such images, and so have no chance of winning any other award. (There were 6 people in the 2008/2009 season who submitted only projected digital images).
- Having a separate Slide worker of the year award is becoming an anomaly, because the number of people entering slides is falling year by year. (There were 4 people in the 2008/2009 season who submitted slides, compared with 7 in the 2007/2008 season, and 10 in the 2006/2007 season. However, it is not proposed to eliminate submission of slides in future).
