Extra General Meeting vote on rule changes

As announced at least 28 days earlier, the first part of the meeting on 10 October 2006 was an EGM to vote on the proposed rule changes described in the August 2006 edition of Focus.

Barry Pearson gave a PowerPoint presentation summarising the proposed changes to the rules for mount sizes and print sizes for both Quarterly Competitions and the Exhibition, and proposed changes to Exhibition 12categories. All rules were to take immediate effect, except the rule for minimum mount sizes, which was to take effect immediately after the 4th Quarterly of the 2006-7 season. (The latter delay was because some work had already been prepared which would contravene this rule, and it was essential to provide sufficient events at which this work could be used).

There was some discussion about the detailed wording for the Exhibition categories, to the satisfaction of those present. There was also an observation that the reduction of the maximum mount size to 20 inches by 16 inches for the Quarterly Competitions was unnecessary for handling purposes within NCPS, although some other organisations are known to be strict about this maximum size. However, this was agreed not be to a reason to vote against the proposed changes.

A show of hands was requested from those objecting to the proposed changes. There were no votes against. Therefore the changes will take effect at the dates identified above.
