NCPS hosted this competition, and before 5.00pm members had arrived to put out the chairs in the main Hall at Poynton Civic Centre. The big screen was erected and Geoff Robinson arrived with the raffle prizes and the refreshments for the interval. We re-assembled at 6.15pm when the ladies (Dorothy, Joyce and Jill) opened up the tea-bar to welcome the early arrivals. Frank and Margery Hutchinson made sure the visitors bought raffle tickets. Nearly 100 people heard Tony Redford welcome the L&CPU to Poynton, the venue for our Annual Exhibition, and L&CPU President Gordon Jenkins introduce the judge John Cartledge from Cannock. (the Midlands Federation).

John insisted that photography was fun and that he would have fun in judging the entries. After viewing all the slides, he got down to business whittling them down over seven rounds. We lost Puffin by Colin Pickles in round 2 and Tramshed by Geoff Robinson in round 4. America 2 (G Robinson) and Sally Lightfoot Crab (B. Pearson)lasted til round 5, and “Owd Pals” by Phil Riley reached the final seven in round 6. Philip Charnock produced the winning slide and Wigan 10 were the clear club winners with 28 points. NCPS came a creditable 2nd with 22 points. The table of Club results is given below:
