L&CPU Slide Knockout 2006

Phil Riley and myself represented the club at this years L&CPU Slide Knockout competition held at Bebington on Saturday 25th November. 21 clubs participated, each entering 5 slides from at least 3 workers plus one further slide to be judged only in the event of a tied result. Our entry was the same as for the Laughton Trophy competition at Bramhall two weeks ago. We chose only original transparencies although the competition rules permitted digital images and overall such images were very successful. The standard of the wildlife and action images was particularly high.

"Spring Lamb" by Jonathan Bawden was eliminated in the first round; "Sadhu" by Brian Turnbull and "Bryce Viewpoint" by Gordon Robson in the second; and "Opposing Petals" by David Akers in the third round. "Buzzard" by Phil Riley (above) made the final cut in the company of largely digital images and went on the win the trophy for the best overall image in the competition — congratulations to Phil (pictured collecting his trophy from David Marsh).

NCPS finished equal 5th in the competition; the results for the top few places were:

1st 25 South Manchester CC
2nd 23 Wigan 10 Foto Club
3rd 16 Blackburn & District CC
16 Lytham St Annes PS
