Bramhall P.S. 2006 Annual Exhibition

We at North Cheshire P.S. are always very happy to support Bramhall’s event and regularly take part in the Individual Creative Print competition which takes place on the Wednesday of their Exhibition, and the Inter-club competitions which are held on Thursday. A good number of our members can usually be found on these occasions admiring the displays of prints and slides submitted by Bramhall members.

This year, we didn’t enter a panel of prints for Thursday’s competition. In fact only four clubs took part with the Bramhall P.S. panel chosen as the best – which included prints from joint members Gordon Robson and Geoff Robinson – so well done to them.

Judge Graham Johnston ARPS then went on to judge the inter-club slides. South Manchester C.C. were clear winners with North Cheshire finishing disappointingly down the list at about 6th with some of our more promising slides not scoring too well. Our best mark was awarded to “Over the Hill” by Colin Pickles whose title clearly does not refer to him or his photography!

The creative print competition on Wednesday was judged by Gordon Jenkins (standing in for L&CPU President David Marsh) and two of Wilmslow Guild’s senior members in Geraldine Hillmer and Peter Layhe. Here our members did rather better with Gordon Robson and Dorothy and Tony Redford getting seven of their pictures through to the final twelve (out of about 50 in total). Top print eventually went to an image by Maurine Glynn of SLIC with Tony R making third place with his “Fantasy Fishing”.

Saturday’s excellent presentation by Duncan McEwan with a selection of his famous Scottish Landscape slides rounded off the proceedings, with another raffle prize adding to North Cheshire’s collection from the week - to prove we can be winners on occasion.

So well done to Bramhall P.S. for putting on another enjoyable Exhibition week.

Tony Redford
