| The Committee Meeting Wed 24th January 2007 | |||||
|
The meeting again mainly concerned the forthcoming Annual Exhibition. 400 catalogues would probably be needed at an estimated cost of 40p each. We awaited the response of two possible sponsors, and the judge’s results. The catalogue could then be assembled. We sought also a suitable printer for this large number. Geoff Robinson reported that we had an adequate supply of polystyrene cups for the three days. The extra 50p on the entrance fee should cover the increased costs of catalogue and refreshments. Agreed that we would have the raffle on all three nights. For the Friday we would rank raffle prizes as 1st, 2nd 3rd etc and assign the winning ticket at the interval, to the prize, to be collected at the end of the evening. This would minimise disruption of the proceedings Geoff, Dorothy and Richard would take responsibility for the Print Sale and have a table behind the entrance table for the purpose. It was proposed that we have special performers tickets for the Choir and Band on the Friday, and that we send them extra audience tickets to sell, on our behalf, to local followers. Roger reported that 23 clubs had entered the Digital competition, and 21 clubs the Slide Knockout competition. Jon Bawden and Sandra Brown were organising the after-Exhibition lunch at the Little Mill Inn, Rowarth. The two course meal would cost about £11. Jill Hargeaves had sent a written report highlighting the ways in which the Exhibition posters were being put up around Poynton. Bill had more posters available for those who could use them. He had also produced A5 folded handouts for Libraries etc for folks to keep to remind them of the Exhibition. Colin Pickles reported that 19 members were travelling to Budapest and he was collecting the hotel money. Roger Dye noted the forthcoming 10+10 competition with Chapel on Wed 21 Feb.. It was also agreed that we would enter the L&CPU competition. President Tony Redford noted that the Derwentwater Hotel was again booked for the Bonfire Weekend at Keswick; and that next year’s syllabus was progressing well. Treasurer Geoff Robinson reviewed the finances and noted that several new members had recently joined. Secretary Joyce Robson noted that the L&CPU AGM was on Sat 24th February. Richard Scaife reported that we had received a cheque from Poynton Community Centre re unused bookings. Barry Pearson reported that the repaired Digital Projector worked though he thought the colours a bit bland. He thought we should acquire “Lightroom” in due course, and CS3. The next Digital Forum would be taken by Brian Turnbull and Barry Pearson. Barry would take his own 5 foot screen. Date of next meeting Thursday 8th March 2007. Bill Chadband |
