| The Committee meeting Wed 13th December | |||||
|
The meeting mainly concerned the forthcoming Annual Exhibition (14th to 16th February 2007). The entry rules had been updated, and thanks to Barry Pearson’s efforts could now be seen and downloaded from the WEB. The entry form, the list of up to eight prints and eight slides, including titles, category, competition number and name, could similarly be downloaded. Those without WEB access could request such forms. Following handing-in on Tuesday 9th February, and the collation of all entries on a spreadsheet the Prints and Slides would be taken to judge David Butler the following week.. On the return of the Prints a sub-committee would consider the arrangement of the prints on the stands. As there would likely be an excess of prints over the available hanging space it was important that members listed their prints in the order of preference. Their last listed entry probably would not be hung unless it received a commendation from the judge. Roger Dye reported that to date 21 clubs had entered for both the Digital Print competition on the Wednesday, and the Slide knockout competition on the Thursday. This number was likely to increase. On the Friday the musical evening would feature Poynton Male Voice Choir, and Hawk Green Brass Band. There would be ample time before the concert, and during the interval, to peruse the Exhibition. On this Friday it is proposed to offer Prints for Sale. Separate A4 sheets will list those prints offered for sale, together with the asking price (In £5 increments between £10 and £40). The Society will take 20% commission from the sales. It was agreed that both the Refreshments, and the Catalogues should be free to those requiring them, and that the Entrance should be £2.50 on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and £6 for the concert. This would be reduced to £7 all in for those wishing to visit all three nights, if the ticket was purchased in advance. Similarly the concert ticket would be reduced to £5 if purchased in advance. Jill Hargreaves reported that Mates DIY on Park Lane were willing to sell our advance concert tickets. In return we would offer a free advertisement to Mates. Publicity was important regarding the concert. The aim of the concert and print sales was to encourage local attendance at our Exhibition. Jonathan Bawden would take charge of the trophy presentations on the first night. L&CPU President David Marsh would again open the Exhibition and present the awards to the winners. Sandra Brown would take responsibility for the Refreshments on the three nights, Joyce Robson would organise the Door and ticket sales, Hilary and Brian Turnbull would take charge of the raffle and collect member’s contributions. It was noted that we would need a dressing room for the choir and the Band; hopefully since, they are consecutive performers, we could get away with one room for both. It was suggested that we could clear the stage (of screen, slide projector etc) on the Friday morning in readiness for the evening concert. Bill Chadband |
