The Committee Meeting Wednesday 25 October at Hawk Green Reading Room

Fourteen members were present.

It had been suggested that we had club name badges to assist members (particularly new ones) in getting to know other members names, but there did not seem sufficient enthusiasm for this to be carried forward.

We had not been asked to take the pictures at the Poynton show.

Colin Pickles reported that 19 seats had been booked for the Budapest trip. Since the original Hotel had upped their prices since first being approached Perigrination were seeking alternative hotels.

We had abandoned having a club Christmas dinner, but would continue to hold as dinner on the Sunday after the Annual Exhibition.

Roger Dye reported that 17 clubs had entered the Slide Competition and 14 clubs the Digital print competition.

It was agreed that we should pursue the idea of Music at an Exhibition for the Friday evening. The proposal was for Poynton Male voice choir to take the hour before the interval. After the refreshments and chance for the audience to view the pictures, a Brass Band ( Poynton Brass Band?) would take the second half of the evening. Following the lead of Sheffield club Bill proposed that the prints could be for sale on the Friday. The catalogue booklet could list the “for sale” prices of the prints or indicate NFS (not for sale). 10% of the proceeds could revert to club funds, or alternatively go to a named charity.

It was agreed that we should try and update the Digital projector. We made good use of it at our monthly Digital evening for the Public and club members, and also at the Exhibition; but the inability to accurately adjust the colours was a great handicap. Projectors had progressed enormously since we bought our’s. Agreed that we investigate the possibility of a further grant to update the machine.

Tony Rosevere reported that we had lost three but gained five new members. John Morten had written a letter explaining why changed circumstances had led to his not renewing his membership, but praising the club and its membership.

President Tony Redford invited input to next year’s syllabus. One idea was 10 members, ten prints, in ten minutes. Another was that we separate Print and slide competitions. The slide competition could be projected images, using the slide projector and the Digital projector

Calling on offers to run the Digital evenings he elicited several responses. Barry Pearson would take the first 30 minutes (1st half?) of the Nov 7th evening. Bill Chadband would do the 2nd half. Geoff Robinson and Brian Turnbull agreed to take the December 5th meeting.

Next committee meeting set for December 13th, 7.30pm at Hawk Green Reading Room.
